Project Overview
As part of CIAC Rwanda’s commitment to education and community development, this project renovated deteriorating classroom facilities in Muhanga’s Rongi Sector, creating a safe, inspiring learning environment for over 400 students. The renovation included structural repairs, new furniture, improved lighting, and installation of learning materials.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the project embedded environmental education resources into the classroom, ensuring students learn about sustainability, biodiversity, and Rwanda’s ecological heritage as part of their daily schooling experience.
Key Activities
- Assessing and documenting the structural needs of target classrooms
- Coordinating with local construction teams for renovation works
- Procuring and installing new desks, chairs, and blackboards
- Painting and improving ventilation and natural lighting in classrooms
- Installing environmental education materials, charts, and learning aids
- Engaging the school community in maintenance and ownership of the renovated spaces
Expected Outcomes
Over 400 students in Muhanga’s Rongi Sector now learn in renovated, well-equipped classrooms. The improved learning environment has contributed to better school attendance and teacher morale. Environmental education materials ensure the project’s impact extends beyond infrastructure to values and knowledge formation.
