Rwanda- In a bid to contribute to the country’s sustainable development and combat climate change, the Centre intervention et d’Action Communautaire (CIAC) participated in the 2023-2024 Tree Planting Campaign. The national non-governmental organization (NGO) mobilized its resources and volunteers to plant trees across all its intervention areas.
Established in June 2022, CIAC has been dedicated to improving the livelihoods of Rwandan communities by promoting environmentally friendly agriculture and efficient use of natural resources. With a mission to foster socio-economic development, the NGO has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and uplifting local communities.
The tree planting campaign, organized by the Rwandan government, aimed to increase the country’s forest cover and mitigate the effects of climate change. Recognizing the importance of this endeavor, CIAC joined hands with other organizations and individuals to plant trees in different regions.
“We are proud to be part of this important initiative,” said Drocella, the President of CIAC. “Planting trees not only helps combat climate change but also provides numerous benefits such as improving air quality, preserving biodiversity, and preventing soil erosion.”
CIAC’s volunteers, including staff members and community members, enthusiastically participated in the tree planting activities. The organization prioritized areas that were most vulnerable to deforestation and degradation, ensuring that the newly planted trees would have a lasting impact on the environment.
In addition to its commitment to environmental conservation, CIAC also focuses on various other social issues. The organization actively fights against violence in families by facilitating group discussions and providing solutions. It also promotes gender equality, entrepreneurship, and I.C.T education among women and youth as a means of accelerating sustainable development.
Furthermore, CIAC is dedicated to promoting hygiene and sanitation through the development of water and sanitation infrastructures. By increasing access to clean water and sanitation facilities, the NGO aims to improve the overall health and well-being of communities.
As part of its humanitarian efforts, CIAC also works towards protecting child rights, eradicating child labor, and providing assistance during times of vulnerability such as disasters, wars, or epidemics.
By participating in the 2023-2024 Tree Planting Campaign, CIAC has once again demonstrated its commitment to the sustainable development of Rwanda. Through their collective efforts, CIAC and other organizations are striving to create a greener and more prosperous future for all Rwandans.
